MODULAR BELT TECHNICAL GUIDE

Technical Information for Modular Belt Selection

Evaluate pitch, surface, open area, material, temperature and cleanability together when selecting a modular belt.

Core Parameters in Modular Belt Selection

Correct selection is not based on product code alone. Pitch, belt surface, minimum width, open area, flights and sidewalls, pin structure, material, operating temperature and cleaning conditions should be assessed together.

Pitch

Pitch is one of the core geometric parameters of the modular structure. The 12.7 mm, 25.3 mm, 25.4 mm, 38.1 mm and 50.8 mm catalogue series should be evaluated according to application needs.

Surface and open area

Open or closed surface selection depends on product geometry, drainage or airflow needs and cleaning procedures.

Material and temperature

Polypropylene, polyethylene and polyacetal options can be compared through the strength and temperature tables on each product page.

TECHNICAL QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is modular belt pitch important?

Pitch should be assessed together with module geometry, sprocket compatibility, transfer behavior and line layout. It is not a standalone selection criterion.

What is the difference between open and closed surfaces?

Open surfaces may be evaluated where drainage or airflow is needed, while closed surfaces provide a continuous conveying surface. Final selection depends on operating conditions.

Can I select a belt by product code alone?

No. Product code is a starting point; width, load, speed, temperature, cleaning and transfer points must also be analyzed.
